Building Careers in Energy Through Real-World Learning

What We Actually Do

We started Trueoutline because we kept seeing the same problem. People wanted to work in energy, but traditional programs weren't giving them what employers actually needed. So we built something different.

Our courses focus on practical skills. Things like understanding how wind turbine systems work, navigating energy regulations that matter in Canada, and knowing safety protocols that keep people alive on job sites. We work with folks who've spent years in the field, not just academics who haven't touched equipment since grad school.

The energy sector keeps changing. What worked five years ago doesn't cut it now. Our programs adapt because we're constantly talking to companies about what they need. When solar installation techniques evolve, we update our curriculum. When new environmental standards come through, we make sure students learn them.

Why This Matters

Canada's energy landscape is shifting faster than most people realize. Renewable projects need trained workers who understand both the technology and the regulations. Traditional energy operations need people who can adapt to cleaner methods while maintaining safety.

We've seen students go from having zero industry experience to landing solid positions within a year of finishing their program. That happens because we focus on what matters — hands-on learning with equipment they'll actually use, connections with professionals who can give them honest feedback, and understanding of how energy projects really work from planning through completion.

The work isn't glamorous. But it's real, it pays decently, and there's genuine demand. We're not promising anyone they'll revolutionize the industry or become an executive in three years. We're helping people build solid careers doing meaningful work.

How We Approach Training

Industry-Connected Curriculum

Every course we develop gets reviewed by people currently working in the field. They tell us what's outdated, what's missing, and what students actually need to know before day one on a job site.

Practical Before Theoretical

Theory matters, but only after you understand why it matters. We start with the practical work, then fill in the science and regulations once students have context for why they're learning it.

Flexible Learning Paths

Not everyone can quit their job to study full-time. Our programs work around real schedules because we know most students are balancing work, family, and education simultaneously.

Honest Career Guidance

We won't tell you every graduate finds their dream job immediately. But we will help you understand what different roles actually involve, what they pay, and what path makes sense for your situation.

2017
Starting Small

Launched with a single program focused on renewable energy fundamentals. Twelve students in that first cohort. We learned as much as they did about what actually works in career training.

2019
Expanding Offerings

Added specialized tracks for wind, solar, and energy management after seeing where demand was strongest. Started working directly with companies to shape what we taught.

2021
Building Infrastructure

Invested in proper training equipment and simulation technology. Students needed more than classroom theory — they needed to work with actual systems before hitting real job sites.

2023
Industry Partnerships

Formalized relationships with energy companies across Quebec. These connections help students find placements and ensure our curriculum stays relevant to what employers need.
